Roland IR3109 filter in euro

This is an adaptation for eurorack of the IR3109 filter board for Shruthi.

It features 2 audio ins (1 w/ attenuator), 2 CV ins (1 w/ attenuator), 1 CV in for the resonance and 2 outs.
This is a non commercial project but I made a run of PCBs for me and a bunch of friends, and I have some left over.
If interested, let me know.
I can provide a BOM and a FPE/Schaeffer file or a DXF for the front panel.
Keep in mind that you will need to source a IR3109 chip.
dot matrix madness

Wouldn't it make sense to design the board using two LM13700 and transistor pairs instead? hmmm.....
Modulart_JP
That's the SMR-4 filter and if I wanted that I would have made an adaptation of it.
The point was to make a filter around the IR3109 (since I have a bunch of them) and I did this.
That's all.
If it's of interest for some people, great.
If not, doesn't matter. thumbs up

For the record, I have all filters for Shruthi.
And despite what some say or want to believe, the SMR-4 and the IR3109 don't sound nor behave the same.

Do you have PCBs available? I have a few IR3109

Agreed. I've got very nearly all the filter boards for the Shruthis.. SMR-4 is very nice, but it isn't quite the same as the IR3109 which I prefer. I built 5 or 6 IR3109 Shruthis! Definitely my favourite thumbs up

Incidentally, 1 or 2 people were working on clones of the IR3109 chip, although im not sure what became of them.

i like my IR3109 filter board as well. im working with somone on a clone of the IR3109. its almost there, but the sound isnt quite right yet.

yeah! i thought it was weird that so many people act like the Shruthi SMR-4 has anything to do w/ Roland when it's more just "inspired by" or aiming to be the same

Here we go...
For those interested, the PCB is available for sale in my shop.
https://www.pharmasonic.jp/shop/index.php?id_category=18&controller=ca tegory

Price is 1,700 JPY (about 15 USD/ 13 EUR) including free shipping worldwide.

Modular Addict seems to have IR3109 chips:

I'll upload DXF and FPD files very soon for the front panel.

What about the gerbers or preferably eagle files?

Thanks for this project! Looking forward to building them.
I butchered a boss effect back in Shruthi-1 times.
There is a big difference between this filter sound and the SMR4.
Looking forward for guest's version too!

Here is the BOM:

For the 4x 220p capacitors, you can experiment with other types like Polystyrene, Polypropylene or Polyester.

Here is the file for a Schaeffer/FPE panel:
https://www.pharmasonic.jp/download/IR3109.fpd

Of course, you are free to modify it.

And the DXF file for a DIY panel:

I built a few modules for me and some friends.
I have 6 PCBs left from the batch I ordered and I will keep 1 as spare.
Therefore there are 5 PCBs available to go.
Since 3 are already sold, only 2 remains available.
In the future, if there is a reliable clone of the IR3109 chips on the market at a reasonable price, I might offer it as a commercial project.
LektroiD
Just ordered mine.

thumbs up
Then only one left...
Modulart_JP
Did anyone build the filter already ?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
As well as pictures of your build.
Here is the one I built for myself:

(sorry, the picture is not very good)
rosch
Not yet, I just ordered 2 panels from Schaeffer today.

Time to put the module up on Modulargrid :-D
