ES-8 Aggregate buffer size

Hey,

I'm running the ES-8 on aggregate with a Scarlett 6i6 and I'm having to run a 192khz sample rate and 1024 buffer size on Ableton in order to get a clean sound?

I tried running it at normal capacity (44khz and 512 Sample) and it starts crackling hard after about 30secs of usage.

None of this happens if I use it has a standalone.

Just curious if it's normal or I'm doing something wrong.

Just want to add, I inverted the order of the aggregate and I'm using the ES-8 has the clock host.

So:

ES-8(h) -> Scarlett 6i6 = 44khz / 512 no crackling, no latency.

Scarlett 6i6(h) -> ES-8 = 192khz / 1024 in order to avoid crackling.

(h) being the clock host.

I also disabled all the inputs and outputs such as spdif that I wasn't going to use.

Just trying around and documenting here for future users.
Any input on similar experiences is welcomed.

Do you have drift correction enabled on the unit that isn't clock master?
ZargZorg
I did on the Es-8 > Scarlett aggregate

not on the Scarlett > Es-8 one.

Was that the problem?

Unless you're sharing a clock (e.g. via an ADAT cable) you need drift correction on one of them.

Thanks, noted.
