Question about End of Cycle leading to new gate event

Author Question about End of Cycle leading to new gate event

So I have an idea and not sure if its possible to do this somehow ...
Imagine I have a clock sending gates at a definte rate X. And let's say I also have a Maths doing a cycle at every Y gate based on some divison of the clock X. What I want to accomplish is the following: when Maths EOC fires a trigger and I send it to an Oscillator, I want it to actually wait and trigger exactly on the next gate of X rather than precisely when EOC ends. Is there a way to do that? Wait till the next gate corresponding to the master clock or average out the timing to the tempo of X somehow? Basically I'm doing call and response but want it to be mathematical rather than trial and error with Math cycle lengths.
Hope this makes sense smile

Sample the Y gate with the X gate as the hold command.

man somehow I've only sample and held CV notes, never gates. not sure why this didnt occur to me. Although I'm not sure I could do this with my current rack: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/797113

The best way to do it is with a D flip flop.

And the Intellijel Shifty is a sample and hold.

oh yeah maybe in SR mode on Shifty it could work. thanks for the suggestion
