Using an es8 to expand an es3 or vice versa

Post by Dragonaut » Tue Feb 26, 2019 12:39 pm

Could anyone describe how an es3 and es8 can be used to expand one or the other? How are they connected and how many output channels will be available? Can the output limit be expanded using the SMUX plugin?

The ES-3 can expand the ES-8, connected via ADAT. It gives you 8 channels, at any sample rate (without the SMUX plug-in).

So the ADAT is routed from my soundcard to the ES-8 and then out the ES-3?

No. The ES-3 can only expand the ES-8 if the ES-8 is connected via USB.
