I might try this idea using an LDR instead. :w00t:

That's awesome.

Unfortunately, all the times that I use a terminating jack, it's to break some normaling of a gate input or something, where the LED would not light up.

Probably also worth noting that you should easily be able to locate Bicolour LEDs which'd give (say) green for +ve voltages, red for -ve voltages.

You get bicol Leds in both 2pin and 3pin varieties.
I'd say you'd just want the 2pins like these from Rapid

Oh yeah - so would I....
...
but then again -- its standard to have at least a resistor on outputs - usually 1k, which'd be perfect for such applications..

Great idea! I was getting ready to make a Max LFO visualizer patch using the A-192, but this will save me from turning the computer on just to see an LFO.

yeah when i was building my paia 9700 stuff they recommended exactly this but with a 4.7k resistor on the tip lead.

handy things to have except on bipolar CV sources.

just use 2 LEDS of different colors and reverse one of them.

You can also get 2 diodes in one where 1 is already reversed. Ala rate LED on the sherman filterbank

when the signal is negative its red, positive its green.
