Author Cheap replacement option for Arcade Button/Microswitch pair?

I have a couple projects (one here: https://www.lookmumnocomputer.com/projects#/sequencer-keyboard) that are using arcadebutton/microswitch combos and they seem to be rather expensive.

Is there a good replacement that is cheap?

Is there not something less expensive mechanically? I mean if a simple 2 cent pushbutton would work in place somehow I would love it, but I don't know if the switches are necessary or not.

The arcade style push buttons are designed to take abuse and operate for a large number of cycles. Electrically they are pretty much the same as any other push button. You could substitute a cheap push button and it would work the same, it just wouldn't look as good.

Yes. Any momentary pushbutton switch will work. The expensive arcade buttons are chosen for user interface and playability reasons. If you want to be a real cheapskate you can just touch two bare wires together and that works too

3D printing (at least my printer) would have those buttons fall apart. I read all the comments on all the 3d printed buttons I could find and it seems they fail with 50-250 presses, yikes.
