This one's pretty weird. I like to see the nutubes getting out there but the sound isn't really convincing me. Then again I don't care much for acid personally so maybe just me?

It sounds very 303 in the Superbooth demo - aside from the subosc - but not at all in the other two videos. It's like they were trying to make it NOT sound like a 303 in the Korg and Reverb videos.

Wow, that thing really looks nice. Between this new one and the Volca FM, those are the two best looking of the Volca line.

Sound? Hmmm .... I'm not sure yet.

seriously, i just don't get it

The first few seconds of the Reverb video actually really sound like a dirty funk bass guitar, I wanna hear more of that

I'm having flashbacks to late 90s gamers spelling noob "nub", and reading this as "noob ass."

Seeing the title of this thread, I thought it was a finally a Volca FX unit.

Looks good for a Volca, it has pattern chaining, but you cannot split the tempo like you can in the Volca Keys. This was easily the worst limitation of the Volca Bass in my opinion and they seemed to keep it in. I will probably still pick one up eventually since I like the Volca line.
francoprussian
Sounds like a porno site

Soundcloud demos are good
Love the 303ness of it, would love to try it
Gaetan
This sounds surprisingly amazing. Very clear and defined sound.

This is literally the first thing that came to mind when I saw this.

What do you mean by splitting the tempo? I'm considering getting this, and I'm at the point of needing reasons to not get it.

I like the squelchy filter but I would need to get more information about the step mode for the sequencer.

I have only one Volca (FM) and using it's own sequencer it's not quite as precise as I'd like (having to play everything in, in time). I'd assume this one will have something more step based, and I don't see a rest button so I am curious what methods you can use to tap in your patterns, without having to play in time, which is okay sometimes but not the only way I like to build sequences.

The Active Step functionality is probably great to use with this type of device. (I have never used the original Volca Bass).
Funky40
i never had a volca.
This will change now hihi

when available ?
can this properly be tempo synced to midi or a trigger/clock ?
anybody knows ?

well, acid will be dead in 7 years after the release day. wink
......but since the thing can do funky i don´t care. hihi

Yes, all Volcas can be tempo synced via MIDI or a trigger/clock.

I am probably not using the right term, but if you look at the Volca Keys or the Volca FM, you can split the temp by 1/2 or by 1/4, making the sequencer resolution lower, meaning those 16 steps cover more than one measure, 2 measures for 1/2 and 4 measures for 1/4. Leaves room to make more interesting loops than just the same 16 steps across one measure repeated infinitely. This DOES have pattern chaining though, but this will likely mean you cannot edit the both patterns at the same time like you could a single 16 step sequence. I hope this makes sense, it's one of the handful of features that keeps me coming back to the Volca Keys.

Going to 1/4 slows down the entire 16-step sequence. Using the arpeggiator at a faster rate (at least on the FM) allows you to play a longer faster-paced sequence within one pattern. Not sure if that made sense but it’s a way to squeeze more real estate out of your Volca FM. Maybe this one will have similar features.

I’m curious to hear Mr. Barbour’s opinion of the Nutubes...

I probably need to explore this, did not know it was a thing.
g8tr1522
You just mean the pattern will play more slowly? Like, 1/4 means you need 4 clock pulses to move to the next step?

I do wish the volcas could store more than 16 patterns. You could pre-program all your performance edits, and then just hit play if you were trying to make a song.
Starspawn
With the keys the lower tempo was also a nice way to get the delay time down to become veeeery slow and glitchy.

Yes, basically. Turning it from a 16 step sequencer to two 8-step sequences or four 4-step sequences.
CoreInside
shame it’s not getting the hype it deserves
CosmicFlight
Sounds a bit "flat" if you compare to a 303 or RE-303
