Cool trick with the v2 optomix: it's easy to make it self oscillate.

Patch from OUT to STRIKE input on the same channel. Add a small amount of DC offset from the control knob to set it in motion. Damp controls how fast the striking decays, so it has a cool effect on pitch, timbre, duration, and amplitude.

There are two channels of course so you can expand on this patch.

I like it for a slightly askew clock, a drone oscillator, both of them droning making thick tones.

It's fiddly, but it can also make a cool kick drum on its own.

Here are a few direct audio Instagram demos:

This would also be a nice addition to the “Today my small discovery was...” thread.

Awesome! Would be curious to know what you come up with. I use the MMG as an LFO sometimes but haven't tried the lxd yet which I'm sure has a very weird character If it works!

Wild! With a square LFO into Damp makes some interesting farty bass rhythms.

Many thanks for this tip. Just spent the bulk of my free evening patch time playing with this tonight.

With an LFO into the Damp input you get many different flavors out depending on the LFO, the LFO waveform and the speed.

Klavis TwinWaves with a Square/Pulse LFO gives the rhythmic bass I mentioned before. Dixie II+ sine LFO gives a nice slew with delay. Dixie II+ Tri lfo gives percusive hits.

More to discover I'm sure and so far I've only been patching one channel. Thanks again

Glad you're enjoying it! I think v2 is more interesting than v1 for this reason although at first I was annoyed that the normalization is different than in the one I was used to.
