Intellijel Rubicon II - well suited as LFO/Modulator??

Author Intellijel Rubicon II - well suited as LFO/Modulator??

I'm looking for a well outfitted "master modulator" (if you will) for my rig. I have plenty of supporting modules (VCAs, Voltage Controlled mixers, 4 Maths, Envelopes, and so on) as well as realtime performance controllers.

The Rubicon II looks like the spice. Through Zero, many waveforms, many CV inputs, wide frequency range, 1v/oct tracking, et al.

It's really great to be able to roll the mod wheel up and go from a gentle vibrato to a raging audio rate FM screech.

I do agree. A lot of outputs to merge and modulate..

I'd look at the recently discussed Generate 3 module from Joranalogue. Looks like a nice modulator, along with the VCO aspect.

...and if you go for the Joranalogue that's all the more Rubicons for me (currently on my shopping list). Mr. Green

Jumping right on it ... I'll take a look. Thanks!

You should also take a look at the Klavis Twin Waves. Dual VCO/LFO, smaller (8hp) and less $ than the Rubi ($250).
Two outputs, but lots of interesting waveforms/algos to choose from, will do through zero. Digital, but one of the "warmer" ones IMO, not harsh unless you set it up that way.
Modular Grid listing (inc lots of video demos): https://www.modulargrid.net/e/klavis-twin-waves

Features in LFO mode:
Simultaneous signal and trigger outputs
Wave synchronization
Clock controlled rate with CV-controlled multiplier and divider
CV and knob control of output level
Algorithm based wave engine with a selection of:
> Wave shaping
> Phase modulation
> Random levels and vectors (also Brownian)
> Randomly spaced triggers and stretched waves

Hmmm ... not available until "September or something like that" (which probably means winter 2019). cost is "around $350 .. $375 or something like that" (which probably means $399 USD).

Damn .. there is a LOT of new/useful stuff this time around at Superbooth! Geez already!!

True.. unfortunately we have to wait for nice things.

Based on Joran's Filter 8, he priced it as EURO and USD as the same price. With GBP only being the only difference.

As mentioned in the video, and hoping for $350 EURO / USD.

Cptnal, makes me question how many Rubicons you have or are going for...??

imho one of the most important feature for a modulation/lfo is the ability to sync/reset with phase offset. Not many modules around with this feature.

Might want to check if any of the shops are still discounting the Rubicon v1.
Most of the changes in v2 were to make it a better (or at least easier to tame) primary/carrier VCO.
I got my 2nd v1 for like ~$100 off after the v2 was out.
Still definitely a “cold dead hands” module.
we're not worthy
