gooey minibrute knobs and slider caps - any source for new?

Post by tomerbe » Fri Jun 07, 2019 12:57 pm

my minibrute knobs have the dreaded rubberized plastic decomposition goo...

i was able to clean off the endcaps, but cleaning 29 knobs and 12 faders is more than i'm willing to do.

has anyone found a good source for replacements? preferably plastic and not rubberized plastic.

the knobs are 90 degree 6mm d shaft knobs

Try contacting Arturia. They are going to need to address this problem for more than just you. I reckon that this is just the beginning of a wave of Minibrute and Microbrute knobs that are going bad. So perhaps they'll offer a new knob kit or new knobs onesey-twosey to their synth customers, for a price of course.

May as well get the wheels rolling on making knobs available.

This is a bummer, this means that their synths ...all of them ...with the same knobs are going to get sticky.

contacted... we'll see how well it goes, otherwise i found some replacements here:

https://store.djtechtools.com/products/ ... and-faders
(too expensive)

and here:

https://www.modologic.com/category/knobs
(possibly too expensive after duty and shipping)

hopefully arturia will come through.

Quick followup: Arturia support offered a set of knobs and slider caps for $16.99 plus $10.00 shipping. So I'm good for another 4-5 years...

Slider caps:

I wonder if there's a solution that they could be soaked in to remove that gunk without dissolving the plastic under it. Maybe just a few cycles in the dishwasher? hmmm....

I used isopropyl alcohol on another thing with the same issue, but rubbed it off, didn't try soaking it.

thanks - the medium ones fit well. however, the price from arturia for replacements worked out to 26.99 for 29 knobs and 13 fader caps - so about 0.65 per piece including shipping.

i tried soaking in 91% isopropyl - it got some of the stuff off, but still a lot of scrubbing needed. with the grooves and flanges on the knobs, i didn't end up with a clean appearance. that's why i went for replacements. i didn't try acetone.

~$25 for a new set is pretty reasonable. Any time I’ve needed replacements for things they’ve been way more in comparison. Glad Arturia took care of you.
