Hi,

I am looking at flashing some STM32 chips for the first time - I have an ST-LINK/V2 programmer but it has a 10 pin (2x5) 2.54mm pitch connector, and I need to hook it up to a 2x5 header of 1.27mm pitch. All the adapter cables I've seen seem to be 20 pin to 10 pin. Any suggestions, or do i have the wrong bit of hardware? It's one of these types:

I use these 2 products as well and they work flawlessly. So you could either muck around trying to hack cable connectors or use dupont wires with what you've got, but if you plan on doing a lot of this then i recommend biting the bullet and replacing your stlink with the one above. Basing this recommendation on the fact that after a very quick search I couldn't find an appropriate adapter for your device and obviously your more extensive searching hasn't found anything either.

how often do you plan on using this cable? if you have one board you want to dump some code to, soldering up a cable would be quick enough. but, if you plan on doing a fair bit of work in the future, laying out a breakout board with a couple connectors on it would be a more robust way to go. or you could get a couple of squid cables and just patch them together. the only 10p to SWD adapters ive seen are for the ATMEL-ICE. they may be pinned out the way you want, but maybe not, and they are expensive on their own anyways (50$).

OK, thanks all. Time to replace the hardware I think.

EDIT. And avoid Mouser's £12 FedEx charge by going to uk.farnell.com where shipping is free over £20

If you can wait a few weeks, this cheap one works fine for me :

+1 to this combo and advice.

I had created a few home-made adapters, and they cost me countless hours of troubleshooting when attempting to flash chips. Turned out one of the wires went bad each time. Bought these bad boys and never looked back.
