Signal Clipping Question

Post by emergencyofstate » Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:02 pm

I create a set in Ableton, bring in the SW Voice Controller VSTi:

When I initially trigger the track with MIDI there is always an initial clipping (red volume meter) on that track and any other audio outputs I've set up for that SW instance. If I keep playing notes, the subsequent notes triggered do not produce the clipping. However, if I stop playing notes and start again I get the initial clipping.

I'm asking if this is normal because I don't see this happening on the tuturial videos for calibrating SW w/ Ableton LIve.

I wouldn't worry about it. The signal level metering in any DAW is designed to give useful information for audio signals - it's almost meaningless when you're dealing with CVs.

Cool thx.

BTW I've had successful calibration with a Blacet VCO and BugBrand SYN2A.
