Moog 902–does it have any distinct character?

Post by Sir Ruff » Sun Sep 01, 2019 1:55 pm

I am currently selling my S-W 902 module to save some space— I replaced it and an STG envelope module with a new Oakley ADSR-VCA module since I was largely just using that one envelope to control the final signal release time of the 902; it seems like a no brainer to replace with one module.

But before I lose the 902, I just want to be sure I’m not inadvertently losing some critical part of the “Moog“ sound. When I compare it to say, the STG digital attenuator module, I can’t say I noticed any real differences in tone—moog “character” seems to be typically ascribed to the CP3.

Can anyone else comment on the neutrality (or not) of the 902?

I would keep hold of that. The 902 has a beautiful tone - not neutral more of an enhancer. And expo/lin options

Interesting... maybe I need to test it a bit more thoroughly!
