Yamaha Synthesizers 45th Anniversary Event September 22/23

Post by ObsoleteModular » Tue Sep 17, 2019 9:34 am

Hello

So the email below popped into my inbox this morning. Strong rumours there's almost certainly a Montage/MODX update imminent (perhaps with some features to close the distance between them and the new Fantom) but what else might there be? Whilst the email identifies "product updates" there's some blurb elsewhere that says just "products". Some new Refaces? Some response to user input at the Yamaha Ideascale site? Lots have asked for a new Yamaha groove box. Or news of new Yamaha analogues, particularly as it's the 45th anniversary specifically of synthesisers? Perhaps they'll announce something CS80-ish!

Also interesting that it's signed by R&D as opposed to marketing or department of general bs :D
Hello from Yamaha,

On September 22-23, the Yamaha Synth team will be broadcasting from Yamaha HQ in Hamamatsu Japan. The broadcast will feature new product updates, announcements, artist performances, demos, interviews and a tour of "Innovation Road" – a living history of all Yamaha products.

The broadcast will begin on September 22 at 1 p.m. CEST (11:00 UTC) for European viewers; the second block will begin September 22 at 1 p.m. PDT (20:00 UTC) for North and South American audiences and then finally the third at 1 p.m. JST (04:00 UTC) on September 23 for viewers on and around the Pacific coast of Asia. The first two blocks will largely be in English while the final one will largely be in Japanese.

Tune-in at facebook.com/yamahasynths.

Sincerely,
Ben Israel
R&D Planning Manager
Yamaha

More Refaces in the same format and/or updated Refaces with an expanded keys. Would love a next level DX model...

I guess we still have a couple days before the live broadcast

it would be hilarious if they just had that girl jumping around with a keytar, via webcam

the intricate beats that lead to the rise of rap and hip hop were inspired by continuous innovations in synth technology from Yamaha.

Not sure they have any claim over the rhythmic identity of hip-hop but historically Yamaha have always played a significant role in its production. Their Motif series of workstations have always been the go to board for rnb, rap and hip-hop producers and FM bass sounds are a staple.

You can hear Corry Banks (of BBoy Tech Report and modbap/synthbap originator) briefly discussing it below with Sonicstate's Nick Batt @ 35:50
