Slider Pots / Optimal Front Panel Slot Dimensions

Post by orchestron » Thu Sep 19, 2019 1:28 am

Hi,

I’m working on a DIY project and would like to incorporate slider pots. I was looking at the Alpha 30mm travel sliders (RA3043F-20), but would like to know if anyone here has other suggestions for good quality ones? See below for a link:

https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/13/A ... 522330.pdf

Second, could someone please advise on the optimal front panel slot length and width for these sliders, assuming a total component length of 45mm, a travel length of 30mm, and a lever width of 6.6mm?

Many thanks in advance.

The data sheet should give you the dimensions for each slider you are referencing. I always use the dimensions + 0.5mm. They are generally very accurate dimensions so I wouldn't go much larger than this.

Alps and Bourns are great quality sliders. Prefer Alps though (personal pref)
