i love my sh-01a for this job but it only has 4-note poly.

what i want to find is something simple that does:

-play as many as 6 or 8 notes into one step
-sequence at least 128 steps (maybe compromise to 64 worst case)
-clock 1:1 off external triggers/gates from euro / drum machines
-scrub through sequence steps manually with an encoder or a forward/back pair of buttons, display which step we're on with a screen (7-segment is fine)
-play the notes on a step when scrubbing onto it
-overwrite the notes on a step by being in load mode and playing notes
-able to play notes live over the sequence while sequence is playing back
-able to save and load sequences, even better if that memory is usb accessible or removable media ie microsd
-bonus: able to overdub notes onto a step while playing back a sequence

i want to accomplish this as simply and cleanly as possible, basically exactly what the sh-01a already does but do it with 6-8 note poly, and without the synth side of things. just a sequencer, just midi in/out and trig/gate clock in. seems simple, seems like someone else may have already made this, but i don't know where to find it.

does this exist anywhere already? is this a feature that can be used simply on an existing device?

This could be a problem unless you pony up for a Pyramid.

you may check of the derivatives of the Mutable Instruments MidiPal.

For example: https://midisizer.com/midigal/

probably no trig/gate out of the box but it is all open source.

arturia keystep can do most of these things except scrubbing and no display.

its 64 steps, 8 notes

Overkill but an MPC can do this if you stick with Akai OS.
