Jim O'Rourke Steamroom. A must-listen!

Post by windchill » Fri Oct 11, 2019 9:25 am

I'm surprised that so many people I speak to, even big Serge fans, are unaware of the wonderful music Jim O'Rourke is releasing on https://steamroom.bandcamp.com/

This is beautiful, fascinating, music made primarily with a large Serge modular. For me this is some of the most beguiling modular music currently being made.

Highly recommended.

You can start anywhere but the recent releases 40, 45, and 46 are wonderful.

Gorgeous, thank you!

This one's less electronic but very lovely.

Interesting
I was thinking .....is this the same guy that was in Sonic Youth and produced tonnes of great music over the last 30 years
Indeed it is
This guy is a multi genre legend

last things I heard from him were sort of mellow pop-folk… quite a huge palette there.

I haven't taken the time to hear any of these except Steamroom 46, I like that one.

He's also got a 4-CD (!) boxset out now: https://www.sonoris.org/product/jim-oro ... oving-eye/

Can't wait to listen to this one.

This is great, thanks for the heads up. Some of his best work for a while. Love the artwork of those GRM releases too.
