Stasis Leak by Frequency Central

Post by Jsharpphoto » Wed Oct 23, 2019 9:37 am

I’ve been sitting on this for a few weeks, but since it’s live on Facebook, I figured it was fair game for a thread.

This is a 1u wide Chorus/Delay/Reverb module.

Some important facts:
1. It will be available assembled or as DIY.
2. The reverb and chorus are the only effects that run stereo.
3. If you’re using the tap tempo or external clock, the time knob produces subdivisions or the clock source.
4. In chorus mode, time = rate, and density = depth
5. In delay mode, time = delay time, and density = repeats
6. In reverb mode, time = pre delay, and density = decay
7. This is not the same chip that the COTK and Blancet use.
8. Max delay time is 1 second I believe.

Let me know if you have any questions.

What is the depth? Will it fit into a Dotcom Box 11 (less than 3" depth)?
For Sale/Trade: 14U 84 hp Euro case . Willing to trade towards MU Modules, Moogerfooger pedals, Minifooger pedals, and other interesting effects boxes that work well with modular, try me!

I will post video and audio demos as soon as mine arrives. I’ve only had my set of System X modules for about a month, and I’ve been traveling for work most of that time. I should have them up next week.

I updated the original post to say that the reverb is also stereo. Unfortunately the delay is mono

Has anyone noticed any audible issues with the sync input? Mine seems to receive the pulses just fine, but the delay length is audibly off by a noticeable amount.

So I went back and re-read your post...."delay length" or "delay timing"....if you are using the internal clocking such as 1/8 notes?

So if you are clocking the delay to repeat on 1/8 notes is the timing off? Or are the delayed notes being cut short?

Sorry for overthinking this!!

It didn’t sync up at any time division. I was talking about delay length at max division length, but I think I may have figured out what happened. I was using half notes to clock it, and at the BPM I was operating at, it could’ve meant that I was just barely exceeding the max delay time. My theory (until I go back and test to confirm) is that it looked fine by eye but was obviously off by ear because it was actually not able to receive the second tap and kept resetting itself. I believe the max delay time is ~1s.

I will certainly check out mine (when I get it built) and post again. One thing I did with the waverunner after I built it was to see how slow it would sync. If I remember correctly, the slowest I could get it to sync was 2 measures @72BPM so plenty slow for what I am doing 85-120 BPM.

OK, just tested it again, and my theory was wrong. I’m well within the max delay time between taps. I wonder if there’s a way to calibrate it, because it’s clearly off.

I'm curious, what inspired the name of the module?

Very cool idea! I really like the fact that it's 1U

What do the L/R outputs do in delay mode? Are they just copies of the signal, or is one dry and one wet, or do we just use the standard L/Mono mentality?

I haven't had the time to get mine built yet to test the sync issues. Are you still having problems, or did you get the issues sorted? I will try to build mine this weekend.
