Midi for the DRUM-X/DRX-1

Post by macsimski » Wed Nov 27, 2019 3:52 pm

Hi all,

I finally managed to find some time to finish this nice project. Next to the triggers also the 8x5 variables to change the sounds. next up is doing program changes and MIDI SYSEX to change midi channels and voices mapping.

PCB 1.0 is done and fixed. pcb 1.2 is almost done.

Can I take it apart? Great!

Nice project and congrats on the progress. I would be very interested in buying a finished board or a kit. The DRX-1 is such a great drum synth, only crippled by its lacking midi.

A few questions/ideas:
Would you include patch saving on the midi board? This would allow for more patch banks. Another nice feature would be a way to interpolate from one patch to the other with a midi CC. Kind of like scene morph on the Yamaha AN1X or AN200. This would allow for some easy & drastic automation by only wiggling one parameter/knob. Have you managed to also tap into the display? If so, will incoming parameters be updating the display?

Looking forward to seeing your progress and thanks for sharing :)
