You could try a logic OR combiner (pretty easy to DIY). When you feed it audio it acts like a halfwave rectifier which should result in distortion. Or there's maybe an amplifier for external signals which is only 2HP. With this you could boost modular levels to some unhealthy amount so the module itself or the next module in the signal chain will overdrive.
