Author Malgorithm should it make noise with no in's?

Just picked one up, I noticed that with audio in and the attenuator set to full counterclockwise I get clicks, even get then withaudio unplugged it gets like static clicks, turning up the bitcrush it becomes very very obvious.

Is that normal? Should I make a video showing it?

With my Doepfer bit crusher A-189, some algorithm turn low level inputs into loud signals. So, I guess you found a way to amplify the noise of the module, generating clicks because ... it's a bit crusher.

these guys make sounds by themselves, without a signal.

mine does it.
woodteeth
the sound in your video is verrrrrrry low.
JP
Yeah it is very low, I did it quickly this morning with my iphone and no direct in, so it's just picking up my studio monitors from across the room.

Thanks for the clarification that it's normal I assumed it probably was, just wanted to check.

Lots to tweak on this one, can't wait to give it some attention this weekend.

yeh, i've used the hiss from a BBD chip as a source before a malgorithm. it turns it into a huge, abrasive phlanx of noise. it's pretty amazing actually.

i've had mine resonate without inputs too.

Is it normal as well that the knobs are a little vertically flexible?

The doepfer knobs I feel I could hang a coat on.

But the Mal ones have a little vertical give in them.

yes that's normal - pretty much all harvestman gear has that flexibility.. never heard of it causing anyone any trouble.
