Another synth vid: Fake delay with vanilla modules

Post by 7thDanSound » Thu Nov 11, 2010 5:31 pm

I made another video, where do we post those? I'm trying here.

It's a patch trick I found quite a while back but it's a bit fun. I use a synced .com VCO in LFO mode to create a fake delay effect.

Well, YouTube were unusually slow this time. I do this before bed at night and so I post the link to forums before it's been approved by YouTube since it usually just takes less than an hour. Guess I gotta stop doing that :(

Sorry for everyones trouble.

Thanks. I don't know what's happening right now. Either I'm drunk and mixing up the videos or YouTube is. It's crazy either way.

Played around with this tonight. It's a very good tip indeed.

In conjunction with a "real" delay (in this case an SSL 1310 delay module) it sounds especially slick for playing triplets on top of quarter notes (or fours on fives or some other ratio). Patch another LFO into the Sawtooth LFO's frequency input and it wobbles around like a drunk on a merry-go-round.

Oh, that's a heck of an idea -putting an envelope on the LFO so that the delay goes faster as the note dies out, eventually going into audio rate modulation! I have to try that!

Feels good to have inspired some patching and experimentation -and then get it back full circle! :sb:
