The site is up!!!

Now here is my little dream BB rig!

Yeah! I've got a whole empty Blacet case with a PSCONN2 (or whatever it is called.... hihi ) ready to go! What exactly does 'limited' release mean?

Touchy-Pad looks awesome! Maybe Mr. Bug can give preference to the E.U. crew in order to counterbalance that Mini-ROM crap...
BugBrand
Hey --- thanks for beating me to the posting!

All good! I'll get back tomorrow with more details and the like..

'limited release' - well as my main focus is on the few people who will take my banana systems, but I will try to make some extra 1/8" versions along with the banana batches - I will have to see how many I can do in each batch, so I'll update later.
BananaPlug
Very cool! I love the CTL1 - Touch Panel, though the exchange rate makes it a bit expensive in $US at the moment. The site says you're focusing on doing a batch of complete systems. Does that mean you are not selling any modules individually until that is finished?
parasitk
I have no interest in converting my Frac to banana, but I'd love to get a touch pad in mini-jack! Definitely a shitty exchange rate though :(

i dont get it. exchange rates are as good as they've been in nearly 5 years between the pound and dollar (in favor of the dollar), which puts the touch plate at about $220US in todays rates
confused

its lousy if you're in the UK buying american goods! not the other way around

Okay then! w00t

nice work bug!!

Any interest in selling pcbs for the DIY-ers??

Not sure what all the whinging about exchange rates is about. Try living in Australia!! eek!

Okay, I guess I started that without knowing enough about the past ups and downs of the exchange rate. Sorry. So to start over, I think that's a very cool module and if it were less expensive I'd try to order one right now. I don't think I'm whining, it costs what it costs. Small production runs don't come cheap. It's okay.
parasitk
Gah lay off! hihi I wasn't whining - I was shooting my mouth off before checking the current rates. razz I'm so used to converting from £ to USD and watching the number double. d'oh!

it really is too. that's pretty much what I said to Tom after I started using it - it's most definately it's own thing, but using it reminds me a LOT of "what I imagine" using an Easel would feel like, sorta crossed with some Serge.

It's an incredible, totally unique and totally addictive system. The PT Delay can make some sounds like I've never heard from anything ever before....and the touch plate module is pretty much a game changer for me, i need to get a few more.

and....it's BEAUTIFUL. I think using thick PCB material for the panels is a brilliant idea, and they look and feel REALLY NICE. Way nicer than I expected they would actually....

and all the color coding is super fun and makes it inviting to use...

and, ok, here you go, i admit it -

using banana cables KICKS ASS. I love them. The multi functionality is cool but almost moreso they FEEL really cool plugging into the jacks. I love 'em. yeah, i'm actually surprised how much I love 'em.

seriously ENORMOUS congrats to Tom for realizing this amazing instrument - i think you've brought something really unique and new to the table here

why do people £150 for a touchplate module seem expensive? I thought it was fairly cheap as there isn't anything else out there like it that isn't super expensive (i.e. Buchla or Serge TKB)

This question got lost in the noise:

Hey - yeah - I'll be back with answers in a few hours - I was out all last night and now there's a lot of emailing & post to be done!

But as a quicky -- I'd not presumed to be selling much outside full-banana-systems or the 1/8" versions - but that was mainly because I know there's not many people who I could serve in banana without them taking the full system (ie few banana frac users - well, that I know of..). But - you're an exception! We can certainly chat some more about it soon.

Alright, back before too long - cheers!

I don't think anyone said that. We were talking exchange rates - which was quickly corrected. They're not as bad as they once were (from the last time I had checked anyway). So can we move on now please? This system looks and sounds amazing! hyper
indexofmetals
ok, my confusion.

when tom mentioned the touchplate to me, I was ready to send him a blank cheque as it appeared to be exactly what I was looking for (had a tkb, wasn't right for me), and this has proven to be correct.
parasitk
I'm watching these videos over and over... Maybe I could be convinced to go all out for this in banana format... just add a couple patch panels to interface with the rest of my Frac... I'd live! razz

No matter what though, I must get two of those touch plates. And a Weevil... and a Bugcrusher... and a delay... d'oh!

Gah, Tom this is evil - congratulations on creating a drool worthy system!

the system includes a really nice banana-1/8"-1/4" adapter module
mono-poly
How much for the system?
Kwote
i'm luvin' it! love
berfmurret
i have done some rough math and without shipping it looks to be a little under $2500 usd for that system. seems like a bargain considering how many modules fit into that space. from here it looks like 3 oscillators, 2 delays, 2 lpgs, 2 touch plates, 2 lfos, 1 weevil, 1 A/D, 1 mixer, 1 preamp, 1 bitcrusher, and some others.. i just started my euro but now that it is an able little modular i would love love love to start something up in the same vein as the system in these vids. beautiful methodology, dense formfactor, sexxxxxxxxx.
elemental
Yes!!

Looks like a wicked system. Need to hear the sounds properly when I´m back from my travels. But I´ve been yearning for a compact easel-like system, something that feels more like a contained instrument. Esp attracted by the fact the dude lives in Bristol! I love that city. And no nasty exchange rates or customs charges to deal with.

I would consider selling off part of my current rig to make space and funds for something like this.

Nice one Tom!

Wow! love SlayerBadger! hyper w00t we're not worthy applause Rockin' Banana! Bananallama! beer! nodnod spinning Trampoline Cheesy! Chugging Beers w00t!!

If I weren't a poor student with way too much money tied up in DIY parts I'd get that in a second. What a steal!

Banana wins! This is added to my modcan/cynthia/serge dream machine.

Hello all and such great thanks!

Its been a phenomenal response - I'm really happy (and a little overwhelmed - lots of emails to respond to).

I'll say it again - the buzz of the beta-testers really helped me along the way - it has been a really exciting way to move.

Do have a check in at the new Bug Forum for questions - I don't quite know how we'll split things between Frac / Bug forums.. It is worth saying that my main focus really will be (initially) on the 12 banana systems - but if I can do some 1/8" options at the same time then all the better. I have designed everything to be relatively easy to replicate, but still it may be a while before things are really able to churn out!

I'm sure, though, that the Muff forums will be a very good home!

Yeah, prices -- the exchange rate has been varying all over the place recently - dollars vs pounds vs euros - pounds have generally been losing out big-time!
I hope things are reasonably reasonable - ok, not cheap, but pretty alright for such a small setup!

I'll be able to put up some more 'system' ideas (and people can suggest - though maybe best in the bug forum) shortly with more of an overview of prices. A list of module prices is, though, up on the Purchasing Info page of the modular pages.

I would presume that most of the initial 12 systems will begin as 1-rack systems (though I do know the temptation for fuller systems! My 2rack setup is SO much fun to play with). The rough ball-park is about £700-900 for a single rack - I haven't priced up my own 2-rack system actually.

Anyways, plenty more coming along over the next weeks and months.

Again -- many thanks!

Thats great news hyper

So when can I order two of the touch panels? smile
chamomileshark
hmmm..this looks interesting. I saw your other products a while back and they looked really cool but the modular does look even more interesting.

I've got a small frac system but with that converter gizmo (or two) that may not be an issue. The touch plate looks charming, I gazed wistfully at the Steiner and Moog ones in the Vemia auctions but the chance of a new one is very tempting indeed.
BugBrand
Just touching back on the touch-panel -- the enquiries I've got have been amazing - so much demand. So I will try to get on to this in the next 2-3 months.

Since the initial beta-version I have decided to add a dedicated 'common' gate output + have a sensitivity trim available from the front panel (through a small hole - using a mini screwdriver). I will also look more at the layout and PCBs so that I can try to make replication as easy as possible - at the moment there's quite a lot of hand-wiring, so a little thinking and redesign should allow me to cover quite a lot of requests, both in the banana world and in 1/8" frac world.

Cheers for now!

Can't wait! hyper
