MIDI to CV interface?

Author MIDI to CV interface?
auricle
Hi,

I've ordered a Cwejman S1 Mk2 to kick-start my modular system but it seems that it won't be delivered until May.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of putting together a complimentary system that will integrate well with the S1 when it arrives but can be used on it's own while I'm waiting.

I know that the S1 has it's own MIDI interface built in although I have no idea what it's like. I know that there are some pretty good interfaces out there with MIDI-clockable gates, numerous CV outputs, etc. As I'll need one for the modular to integrate into my computer setup, can you recommend one for me? I'll be getting Eurorack format although the S1 is 19" rackmount so a standard rackmounted module is okay too.

What do you recommend?

I'm sorry I'm not up on Euro Rack (and Frac) offerings but for what it's worth I'll list the MIDI->CV units I know about

The MOTM is supposed to be out in Frack sometime..

hahah, the cat asks for euro-rack or standalone, and gets frac and MOTM in return wink Stay classy, forum, heheh.

srsly though;

- I do believe this is the most expansive of the units available at the moment.

If you're looking for somethign to "hold you over" until you get something else, then Doepfer has a new unit out, a-19*-something.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys.

Yes, I do need Eurorack or standalone. That Kenton pro2000 seems interesting although it is only mono compared to the MOTM 650 which seeems to be 4 voice. I'm not sure if I'm going to do polyphonic stuff but it's good to have it there in case I do.

I don't know anything about the Frac format. Is it compatible with Eurorack?

Apart from that, the kenton seems to be a winner for me.

I'd re-read a bit wink
2 main voices and 6(!)aux outputs.

If I needed that many channels, the Encore Expressionist would be high on my list.

Sorry for the lapse of concentration, I was in the middle of several things at the same time.

Yes, the pro2000 seems ideal now, after reading the spec properly smile

b3nsf - everyone has different needs, mine just might be different to yours wink Saying that, I am totally new to all this so you may be totally right and mono is maybe all I need. I just want my purchases to 'last' and cover whatever I might want in the future. I don't have easy access to the second hand market.

dont get me wrong, I really want a poly one bad! If I had one I'd send a different voltage to each DSG, that would most likely blow my mind!! 8)

the kenton pro 2000 mk II says it has polyphonic, has anyone tried the new one? how well does the poly modes work?
