Author Doepfer compatible replacement knobs?

I'm sick of the doepfer knobs, they're killing the looks of my modular... what knobs can I replace them with?

Also, would you consider it a bad idea to modify the leds on eurorack modules, I'm thinking the A-143-1 since it's the only module w. leds I have currently...

You can get the Plan B style knobs from Mouser in the US. I imagine you can find a supplier in Europe too.

I replaced all my Doepfer knobs with Plan B style.

The original fit grey-black knobs are a standard knob type made by Rean, only in a custom colour combination for Doepfer. Different colour combinations are readily available, for example from Rapid (in the UK):

http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Fasteners-Production-Equipment/Fasten ers-Fixings/Knobs/15mm-Mixer-style-control-knobs/64708/kw/knobs

They also make other 'series' (soft touch etc.) one of which I suspect the Plan B knobs are, for example:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Fasteners-Production-Equipment/Fasten ers-Fixings/Knobs/16mm-Soft-touch-knob/64710/kw/knobs

If you check out the Rean site, I dare say you will find others that would fit, basically anything for a 6mm splined shaft.

Sorry for taking so long to reply.
Yes, the 16mm T18 Re'an SoftTouch knobs from Rapid will work. Those are the ones I use and Rapid is the best source to get them from.

Thanks you filthy plague bearer!

P.S. I love my two PBs. Will need one of those 3.1s, too!

I'm just in the process of replacing all my doepfer knobs with soft touch multicomp ones from Farnell UK.

Although I made a massive cock up and for some reason got 100 D-Shaft ones. link lol

It's actually not that bad I just have to spend a minute on each one carving out the 2 shafts in each knob that make up the D, slice em out with a tiny flathead screwdriver, like a watchmakers. I dont think farnell sell the non D shaft of this series, at least not on the UK site.

Also as the Doepfer knobs can be hard to get off, I recommend sliding thin plastic (I use the bag from the knobs) under the existing knob. Then with another small and wider flathead screwdriver, pry them up slightly to loosen, dont twist the screwdriver under the knob as you will mark the faceplate. You only need to pry up a little as i've found it loosens them enough to pull off.

I'll post pictures at the weekend maybe.

the rapidonline Reans are half the price of the Farnell ones - just nine pounds for a hundred.

Yeah they are not quite the same, I preferred the even smoother appearance of the multicomp ones the grip indent is barely visible, granted theres not much in it though.

I replaced my doepfer knobs with some Sifam knobs.

something like this, although i could be slightlf off on the model#

I've found it's really easy to pull them off if you just grip it with one of those thin rubber gripper mats that are used to open difficult bottles and such... comes right off!

Does anybody have an idea, if these knobs fit on doepfer modules?

sorry, if it´s too obvious, i couldn´t get my head around this confusing page confused
fhars
It looks like they may fit on the pot shafts, but won't fit on the modules unless you remove adjacent knobs and jacks (diameter it 20mm).
martinmodular

groovar
