the .SHN is being redesigned.

the sample hold on the prototype wasn't accurate enough for me, and i did some research and found that making a really accurate sample hold in the analogue domain was going to take too long and raise the cost of the unit, so instead we're taking the quantiser from the Archangel and using it in this.

so it will be very stable but quantised to 1/12 v increments. i hope this isn't a problem for anyone.

after going down this path the .ASR will also be digital, obviously.

it will still have the same feature set. it's just not ready yet. neither is the .ASR.

on the bright side, it's going to be less than 2 inches deep.

Analogue Shift Register.

it's kind of like a sample hold with 4 outputs.

That would be awesome! It saves using a quantiser for tonal use and the output could be scaled for atonal use, or simply plugged into something that isn't 1v/oct. :tu:

I'm looking forward to the switch! Might even replace my beastly a152 with two of them.

buchla secret society? pfft.
welcome to the secret society of the analog .SHN, or as i have been calling it the .SHN Black Ops Edition.

i would share patching tips but i'm afraid if i did a bunch of black-clad commandos with giant STG logos emblazoned on their back would fast rope down here and turn me into pure pink noise.

just kidding. it's a fun module. it does what it's supposed to. you'll enjoy it

i'm using it to make bell sounds! you can clock it at speeds up to 7kHz.

it's great for audio, not really accurate for control. this circuit will not be totally shelved methinks, just saved for another product.

btw, those 6 .SHN units should be at AH now. email Shawn if you want in the secret society.

it's pretty deep... how shallow would it need to be skiffable? maybe it was 8-9cm or so, without checking...

but the not-yet-completed final version (which will be digital) may be a different story...?
