So, just got my Phonogene a day ago thanks to AH sale and goodness gracious, it's an amazing module. so far, i'm wrapping my head around things but am excited about the compositional ability of this module. A lot of demos i hear are very frantic so i thought i'd had a go at putting together some more composed repetitive ideas. i'd love to hear what anyone else has been getting up to or perhaps a few suggestions on exploring this module.

I like the second one, like a music box on hallucinogens. applause

I take arrival of my new Phonogene next week, and am looking forward to using it in as many ways as possible.

thanks guys. love to hear any audio you've got as well.

l e b e r, the sound from no2 is from a windup music box that my girlfriend had as a baby. it was sampled through an iPhone recording into the phonogene

ha! brilliant. thanks.

Nice work! Digging the second one as well. I immediately wanted to download it, sample it, and build a drum loop around some of the bits I heard.

You guys are really tempting me to buy this module. Dead Banana

The Phonogene is really amazing. No matter what audio is fed into it something magical can be discovered. Each recording becomes an unexplored landscape. Love it.

this is a one-off of me playing with a van morrison sample:

i took advantage of the AH sale to pick up a second phonogene...becoming one of my favorite modules, it can do no wrong.

Here's a jam with some friends where I recorded a few piano notes with the Phonogene and played them live from the Rene pads, simple and melodic:

And here's a self running patch, recorded/chopped with the Phonogene and mixed with the dry patch:

Agreed, Leisure Cove's is very nice!
My piece is all live, though I recorded the notes into the Phonogene and spliced it/patched it into Rene before we started recording. There was no click reference, just the drums being played live realtime on the OP-1.

sampled a percussive patch from the modular & made this scribble of sorts,

I really need to get one of these. They seem so "playable" if that makes sense. Anyway I'm sure this has been covered already but what's the longest sample time that these things can hold??

liking this patch. very dub

I am loving these compositions..very inspiring. think i know what my next purchase will be. I hoped the original Tymr Sefari could do something similar but i could never quite get there with it..

the memory is 2mb. sample wise, it seems that at a low quality, that can be 10secs or so. maybe longer? high quality (1:1) is approx 2 secs

Very Aphex Twin of you AT thumbs up... The sampled music boxes, and the first one reminded me instantly of Gwarek2. Great stuff!

Leisure Cove and Pulse Divider's pieces are awesome too.

Sounds like a good field recorder and a phonogene make for an infinite sonic playground in itself. Let alone a second Phonogene or pairing it with other modules/synths.... woah woah

thanks AT!

unpack'd my 2nd phonogene a bit ago...i'll post a dual phonogene exercise tomorrow.

can't wait to hear what you come up with. if muffwiggler has taught me anything, it's that 2 is better than 1
