it's a great LPG that i wish i still had.

http://soundcloud.com/qu-one/101-2-vs-qmmg

Doepfer 101-2 vs Makenoise QMMG. test was done with a trigger to each module's CV in (CV1 on the Doepfer). All knobs were set completely CCW — except level knob on the Doepfer). I did not do any knob turns at all. Went from VCA mode, to BOTH mode then to LPG mode (Doepfer does not have HP mode so did not record that). Sound source was a SQUARE from the AFG.

0:00 QMMG VCA mode
0:04 101-2 VCA mode
0:08 QMMG BOTH mode
0:12 101-2 BOTH mode
0:17 QMMG LP mode
0:21 101-2 LP mode

Awesome, qu.one saved from hunting down his excellent demo again.

I have two of them now and will add another (and maybe another) as circumstances demand and finances allow. I like 'em. I've been thinking about messing around with vactrols, and the modules are cheap and simple enough to do it without much worry about breaking things I can't fix.

I thought it was a really cool and unique module in its own right, a good LPF and a cool VCA with mild saturation, and a quite fast LPG.

IMHO, it is not the first module to get if you want the typical slow vactrol sound though!

Why is there so much more gain on the 101 in the demo? Is it just a hotter unit?

BTW This affects very much how a sound is perceived.

This is brilliant, in my search for my next filter and my next vca, I found both! and in another Doepfer module - cheap!! whilst louder I still think it sounds 'better' than the QMMG - to my ears. :yay:
Beautiful broken machine.
