Sputnik Waveform Generator for Modcan A (SHIPPING SOON)

Post by roman_f » Sun Feb 05, 2012 9:58 pm

hello everyone
i start the preorder for Sputnik Waveform Generator for Modcan A

Image

it's a fair reproduction of Buchla's 258 oscillator, based on Verbos DIY layout
there's only one oscillator in this module, but you have a possibility to switch between saw and square waveforms.

it has a very cool cv waveshaper which transforms the sine to square or to saw.

i would recommend to take 2 for modulation and cross-modulation
it's a dual oscillator but for some reasons i'm making a simple version with a switchable waveform.

a bit more information can be seen @ MOTM/Dotcom thread

price is $300 per module + 5% paypal fees, Western Union is also possible.
shipping would be around $15 to any country.

prepayment is 50% and 50% when i ship the module.
i start the preorder now and expect to ship the first batch in late march

paypal address is in@btwn.us, please contact me if you have any questions

best wishes from moscow

Is this a "now or never" offer? Because there's no way I could do this right at the moment, but I'm extremely interested for the future. :sadbanana:

Also: Has this version been tweaked for the Modcan CV and audio operating levels?

it will be constantly presented in a line, but made in batches
do you think you can tell more about modcan voltage standards so i can be sure if i did everything right?

Are the panels going to be the thickness as all other Modcan A panels?

Wow. I'm out of room (actually over by 1U) but really, really, really need to consider this.

BTW...Thanks for all the goodness you're bringing forward, Roman.

So that would be a "No" then. Modcan A panels are 1/8 inch thick!

I know that English is not your first language, but when you refer to your products, I really think you need to describe them as "Modcan A format" or maybe "Modcan A compatible".
Just to say they are "Modcan A" really is not being truthful - unless you have the blessing of Bruce Duncan to describe them as such??

Just my opinion & I'm happy to be told I'm wrong, but I felt I had to raise the issue.

1/8" = 3.175mm so the panel thickness is off by almost 6%. Probably not a deal breaker for most people.

the answer was "yes", since you'll never feel the difference between 3mm and 1/8"

i'm sorry if i was not clear, i did not want to offense any trademarks
though i didn't say i'm selling modcan a modules, i wrote "sputnik wg for modcan a"

i have received the knobs/pots today and waiting for the panels from ben @ uk.

expect to have them finished in a week or 2.
Butch wrote:Any chance these will ever be made Modcan B compatible?
i can do the B-series module, but the panel won't be black on white - it's gonna be black on silver. or silver on black.

If the pot "shape amt" is a atenuator for "shape in", there's no way to change the waveshape without applying cv to the "shape in" ? :hmm:
