I have some designs that are being tested and probed.
I'm just waiting on some dotcom power utilities to continue.
Most users are using the cable harness so I am going to test everything on a QPS3, Q137, and QDH20 setup.

I find the MU format the most "comfortable" and "roomy" to work with, that is why I chose to make modules in this format.
The power supplies found in the common MU system are much more robust than some of the other formats which is exactly what I need for what I want to do.
These modules will require some +5, which a QPS3 has plenty of.

FUUUUCK YEA! When when when? applause we're not worthy

What is it exactly? I'm guessing some sort of filter...

Hey mecanikill glad your back, you doing better?

I was told its a vatrol based filter. Im sure zerosum will elaborate more soon...
mecanikill
Yea got to get my operation at the end of the month but I am feeling better. Thanks for asking!

A family of 4 modules are being worked on.
More information coming in the near future.

mecanikill
Nice!
zerosum
Should be wrapping up a few things next week and announcing more.

Ancestor
Damn. All these new modules once I thought my modular was done. I need to stop visiting Muffs...

Haxor! - 6AS6/5725 Dual Controlled Pentode mixer. 2 in, 1 out, with CV for master level done with a VTL5C3.
Grid 1 handles channel 1, grid 2 handles channel 2. Unique smooth distortion with a different character than the 6AK5/5654.
Prototypes sound really cool and everything works, they will go into production as soon as I can afford to.

The Destructor Beam - Interesting tone sculpting effect. This will be available for sale very soon with more info to follow.

Vactrol Controlled Amplifryer - Now Available! Click Here

I'll try to get some sounds up soon. The Haxor sounds fucking great with two R54's feeding it! screaming goo yo

mecanikill
I am going to be so broke...but happy! we're not worthy
Ancestor
Seriously!
The anticipation is killing me.

Someone has been busy! They look great Brian! Post some demos so we can hear/see them in action.

"MU" that's short for robotics dude. no? maybe?
modules look AwEsoMe!!!

I have to get number 2 and number 3 out first wink which will be soon.

Number 4 is the ultimate evil lol Darth Vader

My crystal ball tells me that a box of demons should be at your door tomorrow. hyper eek! woah w00t

About the 4th addition to the family...... Germanium, silicon, 5654, inversion, feedback, two spaces......months away...tons of work.
Destructor Beam and Haxor are coming first. Om

The best thing about this family of modules is that they don't use any obscure parts,
They are easy to build, they are simple and easy to understand, and they cost less than anything else I have built before, they are smaller too, These will be available as long as I make modules, these are much more practical products than anything I did last year.

Simple is good.
blz
damn I say again DAMN!!!!!

well i'm looking forward to getting your new stuff and for my case to show up for I have no case to put them in......yet a certain gentleman in bishop is building me a nice walnut case
zerosum
Fun sounds are coming out of the speakers right now.
Here are two sounds using the Wretch Machine oscillators direct outputs into the Haxor, then into the Destructor Beam.
Wretch machine LFO 1 direct out patched into Haxor CV input.

I'll be announcing two modules for sale soon.

Wretch Haxor Destructor Beam
Wretch Haxor Destructor Beam 2
mecanikill
Nasty!
bwhittington
Hey, quit playing around with my modules and get them in the mail. lol

Great demos! I think a using nice, slow EG would be cool place of the LFO. I'm really excited to be getting my first taste of ZI sonic destruction in the next week or so. w00t w00t w00t

What a nice pic! woah woah
Certainly fun (and the devil) await!!!
MY ASS IS BLEEDING

Post some sounds!! hyper
zerosum
Now that the Destructor Beam and Haxor are ready and available, I can start moving towards making progress on the follow up modules woah w00t

I'm not sure the order these modules will be released in, but here is where all profits made on the Destructor Beam and Haxor are going:

-The VCA has a sibling.....Different vactrols, more vactrols, different tube, different sound... Darth Vader

-BN6 waveshaper/distortion module - Dark ominous low groans and howls..... The masterpiece Cthulhu

-Hybrid metamorphic mutation series of modules..... Solid State distortion and Vacuum Tube distortion stitched together in the same body. eek! Animal!
zerosum
I'm ordering some supplies next week to further the prototype process on 1 of the above mentioned "coming soon" modules.
This is fun!

If I can sell a few more Haxor's, then I can fund another project w00t

The way I see money right now is that it equals the opportunity to build more modules,
so can I trade modules for money to build more modules? lol!
mecanikill
Send me a invoice for another Haxor I'll take another to help move this along...seriously anyone that is wondering about these modules Brian has made needs to snag them and help fund some more of his brilliant designs every single person that I know who has messed with mine were floored by them! Embrace the chaos Fuck east coast/ west coast and add some sounds down below from hell to you 5U!

This thing is turning out to be pretty cool.
I'm going to stay up and try to get some demos recorded,

Vactrol controlled 6136 pentode distortion, 2 vactrols selectable on a switch with a special bonus,
position A selects fast vactrol,
position B selects slow vactrol,
middle position selects both, which is...... different.

Finally starting to get to where I want to get to.
Ancestor
The vactrol selection switch is a rad idea. Looks like another killer release.

This is going to sound AWESOME with my D-1000 I bet! thumbs up

And Eric said, "and then you can have a third switch position which selects both of them" This is fun!

And now I have another really really crazy idea for a module that will happen after this one is done. I am going to explore the vactrol rabbit hole as far as it can be explored. w00t

Here are some rough sounds,
I patched one wretch oscillator direct out into the VCA 2, and used the wretch LFO 1 output to modulate the VCA 2.
Here is one with me switching between 5C1 and 5C4 positions:
http://zerosuminertia.com/audio/zi/comingsoon/vca2fastslow.mp3

Here is one with me switching between 5C1 and the middle mode which is both 5C1 and 5C4:
http://zerosuminertia.com/audio/zi/comingsoon/vca2fastandboth.mp3

5C1 is real snappy with lots of dynamic range, 5C4 is really slurry and slewy nanners
Both of them together is just weird and slurry in a different way.

This won't be a replacement for the existing VCA, this is just another flavor to compliment the VCA. The 6136 distortion is a smoother character than the 5654, and the vactrol selection makes it even more interesting.

The Vactrol Controlled Amplifryer concept will continue to be explored
w00t
mecanikill
Can't wait for this one thank you for making some out of the box modules like you do! thumbs up
zerosum
I just ordered 100 of these......
I got some new ideas..... idea Flamey

I'm in the process of hoarding parts so that I can have stuff available for a while.
zerosum
Ahhhhhhhhhhh........ love

It's basically three 12AT7's in one single tube.
I got big plans for this, looking forward to it applause

But first......I must wrap up the finishing touches some other modules first Mr. Green
decaying.sine
Brian are you using any 2D21 tubes in your builds. I have like 70 of them here. They are Sylvania. I'd probably keep 5-10 for myself, but would be happy to let these go to you or Eric if you wanted them.
zerosum
PM'd hyper lol

I don't have anything that uses 2D21's at the moment,
but if I had some thyratrons on the shelf full of tubes saying "Use me! Use me!".................. idea
zerosum
Thanks to the help of decaying.sine, the next module that will be available
for sale is the VCA II which will of course be followed up eventually
with a VCA III woah
Mr. Green This is fun!

Vactrols are cool w00t
zerosum
I got the best 6136 tubes that were made.
RCA COMMAND series, GE 5 Star, Sylvania Gold Brand, Tung Sol.
These will be the highest quality tubes I have used in any of my products,
All designed for military applications with obsessive quality control testing.
Just got lucky finding a good stash.

Vactrol Controlled Amplifryer II will be limited to the amount of 6136's I can find, but I'm sure I have found enough to build what will sell.
First 7 get built with Command 6136's.

I'll be ordering PCB's this month.
Production will start when I get the PCB's.

Also got some new reading material:

zerosum
I'll have some MU VCA's to release in a few weeks....
I'm going to save and order a few panels up front in quantity so I can
have them on hand, in stock and available with no wait time.
So that means I can't release both at the same time,
I need to pick one to dedicate funds towards.

So, what is more exciting?:
-Screaming oscillating VCA that sounds like Death?
or
-Smooth, creamy, lower noise(ish) VCA?

They are both pretty cool lol

After those, I want to move straight towards getting the VCO out,
Then when that is done.... I'll go back to the weird solid state, tube, mutant hybrid processor that was supposed to come out a while ago..

Originally I had plans to release(MU) modules in alphabetical order.... hihi
Look how out of order it has gotten..... lol
zerosum
wavehead
Is the VCA III built up? I'm assuming the III is the "smooth" one? Really want to hear that.

VCA II is the nice one wink
Number 3 is not nice at all lol
Prototype panel for #3 gets here at the end of the week.
I'll have some sounds in a few weeks. w00t
zerosum
Sometimes things take longer than expected meh
But the work doesn't stop.
I have no idea the order things will be released in,
but things will be coming. When they are ready.
I got a big day of work today, parts that I need arrived.
Work work work. I am a machine.
Kakihara
Hey there!
what is the difference between amplifryer I and II?

thanks

EO companion module coming soon.
Not a clone of anything.
This one will be a limited quantity special edition module.
