tantalum electrolytic vs. electrolytic

howdy,

i'm building the mfos psu which happens to call for some tantalum electrolytic capacitors. I only happen to have the standard electrolytic variety.

Are these interchangeable?

Normally, i wouldn't fret and just pop 'em in. However, since this is for a psu, and i've never built a psu before, i'm a bit nervous.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks!
flight
The tantalum PSU caps are specified in the regulator datasheets for stable operation. This is typical of most 3-terminal voltage regulators.

You can, of course, use whatever type you want and the circuit will still function, but the regulator may oscillate if the load conditions are just right (wrong).

Thanks flight.

In that case, i'll wait and get the right ones.

gratzi.
