Hey wigglers
THIS SHOW IS on hiatus until further notice
The Voice of Reason WAS broadcast on WNUR 89.3 FM Evanston Chicago.
WNUR, Chicago's sound experiment has been broadcasting to the Chicago area since 1948!

LIVE Stream here: http://www.wnur.org/

\PATCHWORKS: synthesizer radio feature was...

all recorded shows are archived on mixcloud:
http://www.mixcloud.com/soundoferror/

the voice of reason:
a mind boggling eclectic mix of EVERYTHING. No holds barred: live performance with laptop, ciat-lonbarde cocoquantus, & eurorack modular synth, records, cds & tapes: rock, electronic, classical, improv, prog, funk, fusion, techno, mash-up, 20th-century classical, spoken word, music concrete, noise, minimalism, atonal, ambient, jazz, 80's, sometimes all at the same time. Purity vs. density. quiet & serene to brutal & cacophonous. Nothing is sacred.

[b]Incorporating: "Patchworks" focusing on old and new synthesizer music featuring unique synth sounds and music made by members of the Muffwiggler forum.

Please submit links on this thread or contact me to send physical copies of any material to be considered for airplay. Check out the archives to hear the likely tangents (love noodles and experimental approach, however, send anything but dance or techno -I love it personally but not likely to be part of this feature, then again nothing is for sure, ever). Live performance ops are also an option if you are nearby.

am lacking in clue about this sorta stuff - what counts as streaming?

is soundcloud ok?
Soundoferror
Soundcloud is great
Band camp is fine, just direct me to individual track ( or 2)

Umm... hmmm.....
Why would music sounding like Tangerine Dream be less likely to be played?
Or, do you mean a certain era of Tangerine Dream?
seriously, i just don't get it

Lots of pinged res 4 and twf sines

[s]http://soundcloud.com/koova/moths[/s]

Metasonix drums and Serge Animal

All beat driven but not that strange/weird I'm afraid.

Personal taste.
Maybe I shouldnt have drawn the line there, but TD in particular I never did like. Can't explain it, you know taste in art and food and music is very personal.
I will play what strikes me as awesome.
That can be pretty wide in terms of sound/style.
There has been plenty of stuff posted here that trips my trigger, but haven't really heard any that sounds like TD, but I'm sure it's here...
So even if you think it sounds like TD, if that's your best/favorite, send it along. I may love it, my taste has changed over the years.
Maybe I should try to listen to them again...
But I think there is something in their SOUND / mood /production that turned me off, I don't know..

Some of my favorite old school sequence synth stuff is Tim Blake\ gong, Steve Hillage. Now that I think about it the arpeggiator really floats my boat.
But that's not all I'm looking for
I love noise, ambient ( as long as its nowhere near new age sounding), techno, experimental, rock. ...

So even if your stuff sounds like TD sent d me the link, we both may be surprised ....

Cheers

Doesn't need to be weird doesn't need to be beats...

Hi Dan,

Thanks for doing this. Here are my two contributions.

Babaluma
recent mini album from three wigglers available for download or streaming on the pathmusick label here:

http://pathmusick.hermetech.net/2012/path_v_05.html

cataluma - sidereal shadows

1 black friday
2 everything you think you know is wrong
3 heavy weather
4 slowly forever

i really don't recommend streaming quality from places like SC/BC/YT for broadcast though, far better to download the lossless files.
negativspace
Drums:

No drums:

[s]http://soundcloud.com/negativspace/wingless[/s]

Both are downloadable (in .wav form) via the Soundcloud pages. The first one is Eurorack + a TR606, Mk2 Odyssey and a Timeline/Blue Sky. The second is pure Euro + a Timeline. (And is a mostly self-generated/aleatoric piece that really only a modular can produce...)

Thanks for the submissions lads. Look forward to hearing them and giving some air time.

Babaluma thanks for advise I will stream as audition and download anything I will use for broadcast.
electrik noize
Here are two of mine I'm particularly fond of. Slightly industrial synth-rock. Thanks for listening/playing thumbs up

good question, cant answer that well yet..
i think i will audition what i get the day or 2 b4, then decide which will air. if I dont have time to get that done i will check them briefly and air on the fly depending on the mood of the day.
still thinking where to put them in the set. probably going to do a special feature 30-45 minutes weekly at a specified time devoted to wigglers.

Also please send tracks that are modular based for this feature. can have other elements but ;looking for primarily modular generated material as opposed to keyboard synths. can be fully formed multi part compositions, but also one take straight to tape (or what have you) is very welcome

AND; beats are ok but not necessary ( I do like them and will play them)
but I hope to get plenty of material that is also unlike other music, unique to modular generation

any ideas for feature title? send em on...

will inform..
stay tuned

sounds good! yeah, i picked two tracks specifically because they had beats, but there's a ton of other stuff without beats if you so desire, although some of it gets pretty "out there" - it's all on my soundcloud page

http://soundcloud.com/spitezoo-experimental-lab

on the two tracks i sent you everything is off the modular apart from the drums (still find that i get far better results from samples, and creating drum sounds from scratch is A: tedious and B: not my forte!)

everything else is jammed modular stuff which is then edited/ mixed properly in Logic.

if you want any weirder stuff, just shoot me a PM and i'll pick out some goodies. although i doubt you'll be short of odd music...
