My heart belongs to Bugbrand - ECG as CV source (video) |
br>otoskope |
br>I thought my modular lacked an ECG module to connect my heart as a CV source. I ordered a kit, which arrived today. Here's a first test:
All CV comes from my heart, including the sequencer clock. I use the heart signal both as a raw sound (very low-freq), and as CV to control pitch, FM mod, an LPG and some waveshaping on various oscillators.
Just a little test. Might become a performance piece in the future...
[edit] Don't try this yourself unless you know what you're doing! [\edit]

Mind blown here...
I want to see the module palle! br> br> |

br>what ECG device are you using? i have often though about such a module. great sounds too. br> br> |

br>A Ramsey EGC1C kit. I just finished building it. br> br> |

br>that's really interesting. the signals are patched back into the heart by the way, as heart rate is heavily influenced by music. br> br> |
|
br>otoskope |
br>Exactly. That's part of the deal. But I wonder if it will result in an infinite accellerando, ending in a dead musician...?
I hope not. br> br> |

br>And Kent, where were you planning to put your electrodes? No, I don't want to know... br> br> |

br>This is awesome!
Now just add Emotiv neuroheadset to also use your brainwaves as modulation sources and you don't have to touch it at all :-)
I have the brainROM for Piston Honda done by paperkettle which was done using Emotiv but haven't tried it yet - more info here if you're curious:

br>A couple of years ago I collected data from real, medically motivated measurements on myself, including a stroboscope-triggered EEG and a 24h ECG. I haven't had the time to write software to read those files yet, though, but they're there to be used some day. I also have long data series from my son's diabetes measurements.
Thanks for the telling me about the Emotiv! I think I've heard about it once, but then forgot. Will check out!

br>Now if you're able to sleep with sensors on you could patch before bedtime, leave it to record overnight and then listen in the morning! It's music that writes itself :-) br> br> |

Thread Necromancy! I've been trying to google this without success - what is the Ramsey EGC1C kit? br> br> |

Thanks!

As I see it, there is a risk of currents flowing there when handling the modular, through touching panels, jacks etc with my hands, and I may need to limit those for safety reasons. |
Indeed, indeed.
In *theory* based on my I AM NOT A DOCTOR OR AN ENGINEER OF MEDICAL DEVICES understanding, a proper one of these things is totally isolated from the electrical ground, but I have no idea if this kit meets those kinds of specifications.
I've been trying to get a WildDivine system (PulseOx and Galvanic Skin Response) working over in PureData - with very little luck, unfortunately. There are some fantastic tools to do it, but compiling them is tricky. br> br> |
