Trigger to gate patch using Maths?

Post by Vcoadsr » Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:27 pm

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to think of a simple patch that converts incoming Trigger signals into Gate outs with variable, user defined, lengths.
I'm hoping there's a MATHS patch already available that can be modified to do what I want.

Cheers, VCOADSR

Send the trigger to maths and a sequencer. Modulate the rise and/or fall time with the sequencer and take the EOR out for your gates.

If you send the trigger in the Ch1 trigger input, set rise time to 0, and take the EOR output, then the fall time should set your gate length. I am not close to my system to try it out right now unfortunately.

yes.. that should work perfectly. Use CV control of Fall for variable gate lengths. Good fun.

but doesn't the EOR stay high until the next Rise? so if you were making techno and there should be a rest, your gate would remain high until the next trigger? that's the problem I felt like I was running into

Again I'm not by my system and my memory is getting fuzzy with uncertainty, but I think it's the EOC output on Channel 4 that waits for the next Rise. I'm pretty sure the EOR goes low when the Fall stage ends.

EOR stays high until the end of the decay. So it should work fine by setting attack to 0 and then controlling the gate lenght using the decay.

Perfect!! Now you explain it I'm ashamed I couldn't figure that out myself! Anyway, really good to know. I want to send triggers from my MFB Seq-1, create gates and send to Tyme safari's record and play controls for synced control.

Thanks.

Also you can have the gates delayed in firing for cool rhythmic effects by increasing the Rise time. CV the times for madness! I want to go try it right now!
