5:1 VC mixer and Hex Linear VCA

16hp and skiff friendly

Linix is the successor to the now dicontinued HexVCA module. It comprises six high quality 2164 based linear VCA circuits with CV attenuation and BIAS control for each channel.

The first five channels normal to a summing amp that feeds the input of sixth channel. This allows you to have voltage control of the master sum.Patching into an individual output channel breaks that channel from the master sum. If the direct output is used for each channel then the sixth channel becomes an additional independent VCA as well (Hex VCA).

Each channel has an led to monitor CV activity.

The SUM output has an additional set of leds to monitor the bipolar state of the final sum and a clip led to monitor the absolute max signal level.

As with the original HexVCA, Linix also has a 12 pin header on the back to allow a normalled connection to the Mutamix module.

Price (subject to change) $329
Available in about 3 weeks.

Beautiful. What's the HP on it?

Edit: Thanks for the update thumbs up

LINEAR + MIXER = LINIX

Awesome! What I need now is more HP!

aha, ta! i was sure it must be something simple and that i was just being thick!

Aaaa! I'd be all over this if I didn't already have 3 µVCAs....

Right...
Now where are the Intellijel Cases?

Looks tasty!

Will the Mutamix be making a comeback?

On the way very soon.

Will there be a second module called EXPIX?
ignatius
looks great. i like the layout a lot.

d'oh! Just when I finally managed to get a Mutamix and a HexVCA. Nice timing! razz

So is this best suited to cv rather than audio, or is switchable between exp and linear?

Linear VCAs are way more useful and versatile than expo VCAs. In most situations where you are trying to control the amplitude of an audio source you are driving the VCA with an envelope that already has an exponential shape. If you use an exponential envelope with an exponential VCA you get a super exponential curve that is not very useful.

The Linix is suited well to both audio and CV.

Hmmm. Might have to put my HexVCA in the bst forum. I really like this new one. The layout is just right.
Damo303
Ok that's interesting and something I did not know. Can this be ribbon cabled to the old Mutagen?

yes

Awesome!

This looks lovely, and should offer more control than the HexVCA, as well as looking less cluttered and more modern. But I was planning on the extreme compactness of the HexVCA to help save HP.

I may have missed something on another thread, but any idea why the HexVCA was discontinued?
zvukoprocessor
looking good thumbs up and I will probably get one, although HexVCA will stay - different vca chip, more compact and exponential

looks great!!
